Frequenty asked questions

Can having chiropractic care harm my baby or pregnancy?

No, chiropractic care during your pregnancy will not harm your baby if your Doctor of Chiropractic is specially trained to treat pregnant women.

When can I start seeing a chiropractor for my pregnancy?

A woman can start undergoing chiropractic care at any point during her pregnancy. However, it is strongly recommended to start chiropractic care early in one’s pregnancy. This way, normal aches and discomfort experienced during your pregnancy can be avoided or kept to a minimum.

What does it mean if my baby is breech?

The most common and ideal position for birth is when the baby is head-down, also called the vertex position. When a baby is breech, it is positioned buttocks or feet first. It is much safer and easier to deliver a baby that is in the head-down, or vertex position. The Webster Technique is 84-95% effective for helping the alignment of the pelvis and surrounding tissues so that the baby is able to get into the vertex or head-down position. For more information about the Webster Technique, please refer to the Webster Technique Page.

Can you help if I’m pregnant and having pubic pain?

Experiencing severe pain over your pubic bones that gradually increases and inhibits you from moving easily and even walking during your pregnancy could mean you have Symphasis Pubis Diastasis (SPD). SPD is an injury to the pubic symphasis sustained from a prior pregnancy during labor and delivery. This too can be easily managed with chiropractic care.

Are there any side effects with chiropractic care?

Because we are making positive changes to your body’s musculoskeletal system, you may experience some muscle soreness after being treated, as if you had exercised, which will subside after one to two days. Your doctor will explain this in detail at your first treatment.

Why should children get adjusted?

Research has shown that children who get adjusted are more resilient to disease. Their bodies are functioning at optimum level because there is less nervous system interference; therefore, they are healthier overall! Chiropractic can help with common childhood related concerns, such as allergies, asthma, colic, bedwetting, headaches, sinusitis, reflux, and chronic ear infections. Additionally, it is especially important to have a child adjusted after any significant trips or falls that naturally occur during childhood to help maintain the health of their still developing and fragile spines. Also, by having your child’s spine checked periodically by your chiropractor, you can help to prevent your child from dealing with chronic neck and back pain in their teenage years or even in adulthood. It’s important to teach and instill healthy habits in our children so our children will be able to live their lives to their FULLEST POTENTIAL! Allow Dr. Nicole Clemente to check your child’s spinal health today! For more information about the safety of chiropractic for children, please follow this link:

Will my child receive the same chiropractic treatment that I do as an adult?

Absolutely not! Adjusting a child or infant is done with an extremely gentle approach, with the same amount of pressure as balancing a dime on your pinky finger. There is no “cracking” or “popping” sound when adjusting children or infants either. Many parents say that it appears as nothing was even done to their child.
